About Me

Jeff McCoy has worked as a newspaper reporter for years, covering stories across the U.S. and overseas. Those mud and blood assignments had an impact on him. Watching the suffering and death of others made him realize what was important and what was not.

He has experience as a stockbroker but most of his adult life has been spent behind one camera or another including time in the movie business. Writing scripts, short stories, and novels was something that he did to step out of his high-stress world for a few hours. It was an escape. Writing news articles came easy but required a heavy toll mentally. Sometimes writing a newspaper article about the oppressed would cause some relief to the least, the lost, and the forgotten. Other times it didn’t make one bit of difference.

Great plot/story just a few things that weren’t from me that kept me from loving it.
I thought the plot was great and I loved how it followed a photographer that was not afraid to put himself in the middle of the battlefield to get the perfect shot. I was moved by Anna’s story and her journey to find her son but I was a little distracted by the insta love between her and Bobby. The action scenes were easy to follow and I liked the bond that Bobby formed with the platoon he was following. I think the writing style is what I struggled with the most. The story would be following Bobby and then switch to his boss in the next paragraph before going back to Bobby. I understand why it was like that as the events were happening simultaneously, but it took the momentum from me at times. I would have liked it to be a little more descriptive. It was a little more tell than show at first but it did get better as the story progressed. Because of that most of the emotion I felt was towards the end.
